This is a term used to name an eruption of the skin due to an unknown cause. Lacking a definite pattern, it does not fall into
any category that can be named. There is a form of eczema called psoriasis for which a successfull treatment is being south. Psoriasis does not follow a consistent pattern in that it is a dry lesion that can attack any part of the skin with heavy white scale which falls up easily when brushed.
The sores of eczema appear on various part of the body, but most often on the hands, feet, ears, and legs. Eczema may come up at any time of life and in either sex.
TREATMENT: If the hands are involved, wear cotton gloves. Avoid the use of all harsh soaps and chemicals. Apply silicone protective cream two or three times a day to the irritated area. Emotional upsets should be avoided as far as possible. It is most important to be sure the patient does not have diabetes or some other disease. Hydrocortisone ointment (0.5%) is often helpful.
